YAAAY I HIT 5K.
YAY A REVIEW BECAUSE I'M BORED AS HELL!(And I just finished the series)
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (The Wallflower)
(Probably spoiler city, so beware.)
Story - 8/10
In a nut shell four pretty boys need to transform a super dark person into a lady for free rent in her aunt's mansion.
Though, in Kyouhei's words, it's a painful road to hell.
It's a reverse harem comedy... and you get (more or less) that.
Though, the story strayed from the point at hand at time to time, it made up for it.
All in all, I enjoyed it very much.
Everyone ended up being a comedy relief at some point in time... but the only characters that I think the series could have done without were the Goth Loli sisters. They were too annoying and seemed to waste time.
Animation - 7/10
Not anything to be awed at. It had it's times where the drawings stunk beyond belief, and others where you wanted to pause and stare at the beauty and details.
One thing that dissapointed me though, was the fact that Sunako was almost always portrayed as a chibi. I'm not sure if the animators were lazy, or what. Also, main characters would be blank white and had a blob body with a face. You wouldn't be able to tell who's who! Not even height was taken into account (Yuki appeared just as tall as the others).
I'm wanting to change my 7 into a 6, but sometimes, you have to be lenient.
I like both opening animations, but the endings were plain and had little to them.
Music - 7/10
Nothing special. I'd say fairly average. Sometimes, it just felt out of place with the time, and another song should have been put in it's place. Half of it is rockish, the other is classical.
I enjoyed the opening "Slow", but I wasn't fond of the other two endings.
Characters - 7/10
The characters were fairly formed, each with their own personalities, likes, dislikes and feelings.
You have a glutonous bishonen, a silent-but-strong (not sure how to word him) bishonen, a playboy bishonen and a cute (would loli shota work here?) bishonen. Then you've got a plain looking "ugly duckling" main character that seems to have an infinate amount of blood. Nothing to extreme, but nothing too extraodinary.
The designs for each were ok as well. The main characters were well set apart appearance wise.
Side characters (Noi, Oba, Goth Loli Sisters, Tamao...) didn't really affect the story line as much as they could. I felt as if they were just thrown in for the sake of the main characters. :/
Overall - 7.25/10
I wouldn't recommend you go out of your way to watch this anime, but if you've got some time to waste, and you need a good laugh, this is a good one.
This is one of the few animes that I've actually bought and read before going out to see the anime. I like the manga a bit better (I have yet to buy all of the books, but the first few are excellent) art wise and story wise.
Also, I really wanted to see Sunako get together with Kyouhei. I mean, they kissed twice in only the second book. Tsk tsk.
In the anime (along with the manga, but we're not talking about that) Sunako obviously started to have feelings for him and began to sacrifice some of her dignity.
Tsk tsk.
I've also recently finished Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and THAT is an anime I'd definately suggest you go out and watch. And if you have a heart, you'll be crying too.
